I love the idea of it being a reference to the biblical Job. And while I don't think I've heard this one before, I just assumed it meant something similar to "getting janked."
Yeah. It's bad news. I fully realize that elsewhere people pay more, it's the fact that it's not the same price everywhere . . .
I think it orginally comes from the phrase "screw job." As in, "They are giving us the screw job." "We are getting screwed."
Hey, now that I've moved to Dubuque, I can say that cheap gas is only one of its most obvious advantages.Seriously, I've gone from the Land of Beer and Cheese to the Land of Corn and Pigs. I bloody well ought to get cheap gas out of it!
