Misc.

I think the only way I'll be able to resolve this King Kong debate it to wait until it is either in the cheap theater or on DVD. Then I'll be able to say whether it is "awesome" or "awful." Let it be said, that definitionally, something could be both "awesome" and "awful." Someone with better dictionary skills can tell me if this is true or not . . . but I think it is: something can be so bad that it inspires awe.

Did anyone watch the PSU/FSU game? Yeah, FSU lost. Now, I'm not a rabid sports fan. I don't get ridiculously upset when one of my teams lose, or win, etc. But I would say I am an avid, semi-disinterested sports fan. I know a fair amount about sports, and I appreciate it as absurd theater that does sometimes say something about culture and the world at large. And, I must add, PSU isn't really one of my teams, but they are a team I admire. Anyway, the end of the story is I hate FSU and I'm glad they lost. And it's even better that they lost to PSU, a team that actually dismisses and suspends players when they are dumbasses. You know, they sort of treat their players as if they were actually college students. It's awesome when the commentators on bowl games say things like, "A great quarterback and a great student. He earned a 3.2 this year." A 3.2. Somebody better give that kid a fucking cookie! And, while I'm on the subject, my NFL 1st round playoff predictions: NE over JX, PITT over CIN, NYG over CAR, TB over WASH.

O.k., I'm done with sports now.

I'm currently reading Gerald Vizenor's _Darkness in Saint Louis Bearheart_. It is a fairly difficult novel. I'll let you know more when I'm a bit further in.

I haven't watched many films lately. I did get _Once Upon a Time in the West_ and _The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly_ over the break, but I haven't watched either of them yet (I've seen GBU many times, but never this version). So, you know, I've got that going for me.

I've wasted a lot of time the last week, though I did write a book review.

tim, i feel like our whole friendship is riding on this king kong thing so maybe it's best you not see it. though i'm sure it'll be okay if you like it because a majority of my friends like it. (but they're not so smart).

as for PSU, as a pennsylvanian by marriage, i was very happy for them. they're pretty much a class act all the way.
