K. and I went to the Taste of Madison today. I had a beer, friend catfish, a samosa, spinach pie, fried plantains, fries, and calamari. I think that was it. Most of it was slightly over-priced, but pretty good nevertheless.
The Welcome Reception was o.k. There was a keg, which was good. The talking went on too long, as usual. It wasn't horrible, just long. I successfully didn't meet anyone new (mostly). The new kids always look really freaky/boring/nub-y; then they somehow become normalized, well, some of them do.
I figure I'll hang around just enough this term to mooch off of free stuff and come off as slightly creepy. I'm going to the mentor/mentee night just b/c it's at the Come Back (one of my favorite bars).
Oh, at the Welcome Reception I noticed Dubs wasn't wearing a name tag, so I made one that read, "Boner [Dubs' Last Name]." He didn't realize it at first, then he forgot he had it on, and apparently talked to some new people for quite a while wearing it.

Classic. That might be the best thing I've heard about the welcome reception in a couple of years.
